About site templates Each of the site templates that comes with Adobe GoLive has a home page and a few pages linked to it in a simple navigational hierarchy. The pages have navigation bars to make movement within the hierarchy easy. The bars are components, for easy updating. The templates use different cascading style sheets and differ in their page layouts. Their pages make use of different features--for example, floating boxes, layout grids, tables, anchors, and referenced images. ![]() A. Navigation bar component B. Referenced image (placeholder) C. You can get a head start developing a site by copying the template that best suits you and starting from the copy. For information, see Creating a site from a site template. Once you have copied the template, you can replace placeholder images and text with images and text of your own. Images that you may want to customize (for example, buttons) are Photoshop smart objects, so you can work with them easily. Each of the template pages is based on a stationery page. If you use these stationery pages rather than live ones for layout changes, you can use your changes on additional pages. The pages you add can follow the pattern of the original navigation hierarchy. An original site template can also be the starting point for a custom template of your own. For example, if you are leading a team developing a site, each working on a different section, you can have each team member start from a template you have customized for the site. This will help you maintain consistency of layout and approach. Streamlining Site Building > Using site templates > About site templates |
